Exhibits
The museum has a number of permanent exhibits and frequently hosts short-term exhibits.
The permanent exhibits are:
- The Courthouse Exhibit.
- The Acadian Exhibit.
- The Victorian Parlour Exhibit.
- The New England Planters Exhibit.
Short-term exhibits cover a variety of interesting topics and it is our intention to create a short web page describing each one. Here are links to some recent exhibits:
- Remembering Kentville Railyards October, 2006 - April, 2007. The exhibit featured the historic railway research of the late Leon Barron, on loan to the museum courtesy of his widow, Mary, together with artifacts from the Museum collection and items excavated from the former railyard.
- Salt of the Earth. September - December, 2006. A collection of salt cellars loaned to the museum by Mrs. Ruth Davies.
- The Apple Blossom Festival - 75th Anniversary. August, 2007
- Earth, Air & Water: Featuring the Carvings of Don Marston September 2007 - December 2007. An exhibit of works by local carver, Don Marston. His work has been influenced by nature to create a world of unique birds, fish and mystical creatures from tree burls and whale bones.
- Hooked on Rugs June, 2008. A display of beautiful hooked rugs.
- From Holland to Canada May - August, 2008. This exhibit commemorates the 60th Anniversary of the emigration of the Dutch to Kings County Nova Scotia following the end of World War Two.
- Tell Me a Story Summer 2008. An exhibit highlighting the work of Kings County children's authors and illustrators.
